Janai is often more activist than visual artist. A hospital crisis therapist by trade, she develops therapeutic art practices to support community mental health, and promote joy-practices as tools of strengthening collective resilience. Her mission is to create art & programming that serves the unique mental health needs of working creatives, that supports communities who are marginalized, and that inspires others to imagine a future where all are safe to thrive. Janai’s custom artwork aims to replace negative media images of black & brown bodies, and to amplify their dignity, beauty, and strength.
