Impact Impressions

The flow of an impact scene in a kink environment is itself is a form of artistic expression to me -- the strikes of an impact top, the sensation in the body, and the marks left behind on the skin painting a picture of intensity and intimacy. "Impact Impressions" is a direct translation of that experience into an artwork. I approached the creation of this piece like a true impact scene, treating the clay base as a body and hitting it with floggers that I had made and used in previous scenes, following a flow of intensity that I would want to be used on myself. Each tool creates a different and distinct feeling on the body, and similarly creates a different and distinct impression in the clay. The piece is painted in the colors of a bruise, a final mirror to the marks left behind on a body.

Dreidel

"Dreidel" was created as a celebration of my Jewish culture, taking a little plastic toy that has been with me in Chanukah games since childhood and elevating it to the level of fine art. This piece was made by dipping my dreidel into charcoal ink that I had made by hand and then spinning it across the paper, creating spiraling lines everywhere it moved. Each corner is stamped with repeating iterations of one of the four sides of the dreidel, and the dreidel itself rests in the center of the piece. "Dreidel" uses the motion and design of the object itself to create the excitement of a game of dreidel played by a child, with flecks of ink and coiled lines spiraling out from the center as the dreidel spins and Hebrew characters covering the corners where it lands, one for each possible outcome of the spin.
